The Atlanta Hawks have officially traded Trae Young to the Washington Wizards, ending one of the most impactful eras in Hawks franchise history.
Trae Young was drafted in 2018, and played his whole career with the Hawks until now.
During his time in Atlanta, Trae Young became one of the greatest Hawks ever.
In his time with the team, Young was a :
4x NBA All-Star
All-NBA 3rd team selection
NBA All-Rookie First Team
9x NBA Player of the Week
Hawks franchise all-time leader in career assists!
Hawks franchise all-time leader in three-pointers made!
6th all-time is Hawks franchise points!
In his 7 years with the team Trae Young averaged a very impressive:
25 Points
9.8 Assists
3.5 Rebounds
1 Steal
Despite Young's great run with the team, the Hawks ultimately decided to move on. Over the past two seasons, and specifically this season, the Hawks actually had a better record in games where Trae was not playing, leading the front office to believe the team could be better with a new core and a different style of play.
Recently, players like Jalen Johnson, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Dyson Daniels have been playing very well for the Hawks, so the team will now be more focused on building and playing around them.
In return, the Hawks received CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, and it will be interesting to see how they fit into the team.
That's all for now, folks !✌️
