What happened to Kevin Knox?

Kevin Knox was once a top prospect in the 2018 NBA Draft. He was picked 9th overall by the New York Knicks and was expected to be a key piece of the team's rebuild.
So what went wrong?

In his rookie year, Knox averaged a solid 13 points per game, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he was any good. He struggled with efficiency, defense, and consistency. In fact, he did not shoot above 39% in any of his seasons with the Knicks.
As the Knicks rebuilt and brought in more new players, his minutes and role shrank each season, until he was eventually traded away for Cam Reddish in 2022.
Over the next few years, Knox was traded all around the league. He played with the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, and Portland Trail Blazers, but never found a solid role or place where he really fit.
In 2024–25, he joined the Santa Cruz Warriors (Warriors G-League team) and actually played very well. He averaged around 25 points and 9 rebounds per game, shooting over 50% and over 40% from three.
His performance earned him two 10-day contracts with the Warriors, and eventually, the team signed him for the rest of the season. He played limited minutes, but made the most of them, even scoring 14 points in a playoff game.
At 25 years old, Knox is back on an NBA roster, showing a little of the talent that once made him a top-10 pick. He’s got plenty of time left in his career, so it will be exciting to see what he can do with it.
That’s all for now, folks ✌️
