The Best NBA Season Opener Ever

The Rockets vs. Thunder Game

Yesterday, the Rockets faced the Thunder in the first NBA game of the season, and it was arguably the greatest first game of a season ever!

The night started with the Thunder's ring ceremony, where they got their championship rings from last season and watched as the Thunder raised their first-ever championship banner.

Then the game began.

In this game, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Alperen Sengun both had huge games, which were very exciting to watch!

Sengun scored:

39 points

11 rebounds

7 assists

2 steals

1 block

Shai scored:

35 points

5 rebounds

5 assists

2 steals

2 blocks

A very impressive and exciting matchup between the two star players!

Additionally, the game was very intense and back and forth the whole time, and it even went to 2x overtime!

But wait, there's more! What else makes a game exciting? That's right! Controversy!

The game shouldn't have even gone to a second overtime. Here's where the controversy comes in. When the game was tied 115-115, Kevin Durant tried to call a timeout, but his team had none left.

If a team tries to call a timeout when they have none left, it is a technical foul, which leads to 1 free throw for the other team and possession of the ball. The refs did not see Kevin Durant try to call a timeout, but if they did, the Thunder almost definitely would have won the game off the technical free-throw.

Check it out:

The Thunder ended up winning the game 125-124 in 2nd overtime, off a made free-throw by Shai.

Unrelated, last night Luka Doncic also had an insane stat line of 43 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 steals, on 63% shooting! But the Lakers still lost.

That's all for now, folks! ✌️
