Player Spotlight: Josh Giddey

Josh Giddey was drafted sixth overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2021 NBA draft. He played his first 3 seasons with the team, where he was a very good player, averaging 13.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.7 Assists, on 46% shooting.

But then in June of 2024, Giddey was traded to the Chicago Bulls for Alex Caruso.

This season with the Bulls, Giddey is averaging a very impressive:

20.6 Points

9.9 Rebounds

9.6 Assists

46.6% Shooting

It is still pretty early in the season, but as of right now, Giddey is 0.2 rebounds and 0.3 assists away from averaging a 20-point triple-double. Only 3 NBA players have ever averaged a triple-double over a full season. (Nikola Jokic, Russell Westbrook, and Oscar Robertson)

A big reason for Giddey's improvement is that he has an increased role with the Bulls. With the Bulls, he has more freedom on offense and is the main playmaker. With the Thunder, he was playing alongside multiple other scorers and playmakers, such as MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He is also a much-improved 3-point shooter with the Bulls, shooting 38% compared to 31% with OKC.

Giddey has not yet been an all-star in his career, but if he keeps playing at this level, he has a serious chance to be named one this season.

That's all for now, folks! ✌️
