The OKC Thunder are NBA Champions!

The Oklahoma City Thunder are officially the 2025 NBA Champions, after defeating the Indiana Pacers in 7 games!

This is their first NBA Championship since 1979, back when the team was called the Seattle SuperSonics!

After being one of the worst teams in the league just a few years ago, the Thunder have completely turned their franchise around, having the best record in the NBA this season and now winning the championship!

This Thunder team is the 2nd youngest team to ever win the finals.

Here is a bit about each game of the finals:

Game 1:

Final Score:

Pacers win 111-110.

The Pacers were down by 15 with 9:42 left but came back to win. This is the biggest fourth-quarter comeback in a finals game since 2011.

Key Performances:

Tyrese Haliburton had 14 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and the game-winner!

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 38 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals for the Thunder in the loss

Haliburton's game-winner:

The 0.3 seconds after this shot was the only time the Pacers had the lead the whole game.

Game 2:

Final Score:

Thunder win 123-107.

One of the big reasons the Pacers lost was Tyrese Haliburton's slow start. By the end of the third quarter, Haliburton had only 5 points. He played much better in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 points, but by then, it was too late, as the Thunder already had a big lead.

Key Performances:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 34 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals, on 52% shooting

Shai had 72 points in these first 2 games of the finals, which is the most points ever by a player in their first 2 finals games.

Game 3:

Final Score:

Pacers win 116-107.

Key Performances:

Bennedict Mathurin had 27 points on 75% shooting, which is a new playoff career-high for him. This is also the most points off the bench in a Finals game since 2011.

Tyrese Haliburton had 22 points, 9 assists, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals, on 52% shooting. A key for the Pacers was that Haliburton came out more aggressive right from the start of the game.

TJ McConnell brought a ton of energy off the bench with 10 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals in just 15 minutes. He is the first player to ever record 5 steals and 5 assists off the bench in the finals.

Shai also had 24 points, which gave him the record for most points ever in a single playoff run by an OKC Thunder Player. (571)

Game 4:

Final Score:

Thunder win 111-104.

The Thunder only made three 3-pointers the whole game and still managed to win.

Key Performances:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 35 Points and 3 steals on 50% shooting. It was his first game of the whole season with 0 assists, though.

Jalen Williams had 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Alex Caruso had 20 points and 5 steals on 78% shooting

Game 5:

Final Score:

Thunder win 120-109.

Key Performances:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 31 points, 10 assists, 4 blocks, and 2 steals!

Jalen Williams had 40 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, on 56% shooting! (playoff career-high)

Tyrese Haliburton did not play well, scoring just 4 points on 0/6 shooting (although he did suffer a right calf strain injury during the game)

Game 6:

Final Score:

Pacers win 108-91

The Pacers completely dominated this game. The game wasn’t even as close as the score says, as they were winning by 30 points going into the 4th quarter.

Key Performances:

TJ McConnell had 12 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals in 24 minutes

Andrew Nembhard had 17 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals, on 71% shooting

Obi Toppin had 20 points in 22 minutes

Pascal Siakam had 16 points and 13 rebounds

Game 7:

Final Score:

Thunder win 103-91

Tyrese Haliburton got tore his Achilles just a few minutes into this game, so the Pacers had to play basically the whole game without him.

Key Performances:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 29 points, 12 assists, and 5 rebounds

Chet Holgren had 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named Finals MVP, which completes a historic seaosn for him where he was also named All-Star, Scoring leader, All-NBA, MVP, and Western Conference Finals MVP!

Overall, a very impressive season from Shai and the Thunder, and it will be exciting to see if they can keep playing at this level next season!

That's all for now, folks! ✌️
