2025 All-Star Weekend Recap

This year's all-star weekend and events are all done. Here are the main things that happened:

SKILLS CHALLENGE

The first event on Saturday night was the skills challenge. Team Spurs (Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama) had a very interesting strategy for this. Since the challenge is to complete the course in as little time as possible, whether you make all the shots or not doesn’t matter. So instead of trying to make the shots they just threw the balls in the general direction of the hoop as a way to save time.

Check out what they did:

Unfortunately for them, this was against the rules and got them disqualified. Team Cavs (Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley) ended up winning the challenge with the fastest actual time.

3-POINT CONTEST

The next event was the 3-point contest.

First round results:

Buddy Hield - 31 Points

Darius Garland - 24 Points

Tyler Herro - 19 Points

Jalen Brunson - 18 Points

Damian Lillard - 18 Points

Care Cunningham - 16 points

Cam Johnson - 14 Points

Norman Powell - 14 Points

The top 3 from round one move on to the finals. Here are the scores of the final round:

Tyler Herro - 24 Points

Buddy Hield - 23 Points

Darius Garland - 17 Points

So while Buddy Hield’s first-round score tied Steph Curry for the highest score in a round of the contest, Tyler Herro ended up winning the contest because he had a higher score in the final round.

DUNK CONTEST

The final event of Saturday night was the dunk contest, in which everybody had a pretty good idea of who was going to win. Mac McClung.

Mac McClung won the dunk contest in 2024 and 2023, and as expected won it again this year with some more crazy dunks. He actually got a perfect score on every dunk.

Here are all of his dunks from the contest:

All-Star Game:

The main event of Sunday was of course the actual all-star game. This year it was a new tournament style with 4 teams competing in 3 total games to 40 points each.

In the first game, Team Shaq defeated Team Candace, 42-35. This was expected as Team Candace was just the winner of the NBA Rising Stars game and not actual all-stars.

In the second game, Team Chuck defeated Team Kenny 41-32, while making almost 80% of their shots.

In the Championship game, Team Shaq defeated Team Chuck 41-25.

Steph Curry won All-Star game MVP, making some crazy shots throughout the games:

The main thing that’s a bit unfair about this new format is the possibility of barely playing. For example, in the first game, Team Chuck got to 40 Points quickly, eliminating Team Kenny from the Tournament. Because of how quick this was, none of the players on team Kenny got to play more than 8 minutes of basketball the whole night.

Also Mr. Beast made an appearance, in which he said he would give a fan $100K if he made a shot from the logo before Damian Lillard made 3.

And he did just that. He made this deep shot on his final attempt and won $100K!

That’s all for now ✌️
